If there is one thing that Vietnam has achieved internationally, this is their distinct cuisine – Known for its spiciness and all around different range of herbs mainly used in cooking. Traditional Vietnamese cooking is greatly admired for freshness of the ingredients and for the healthy eating style that I would have to agree with that on front.
On my journey to Vietnam in 2009, i met lovely people who introduced me to some of Vietnamese foods that are more distinct than you can imagine.

Duck Fetus

Everyone knows about the Fertilized Duck Embryo when they come to Vietnam, Thailand or Philippine and for the adventurous tourists, this is one of those “gotta do it once” experiences that you have to do in your journey. Many street vendors in District 1, Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam will be selling them on the road, which implies to me that there is enough market among tourists to do so.
I personally found this food rather tasty and delicious, though the feathers were stuck in my teeth, but the taste over the unappealing appearance is really not that bad.
Raw Blood Soup

I have to admit that my stomach was a bit squeamish and I wondered how safe it was, but as always, I dove it against my better judgement. This was served like a soup and if I remember correctly, it was already cold and the blood started to coagulate. Even my Vietnamese buddy seemed to be afraid by the whole thing that i had it early in the morning. I tried this only once, but I was so freaking out so much that it was hard to keep my stomach primed, but the taste stayed in my mouth for hours.
